Possibly, these glutamine residues of proxins function as amine acceptors. HcTGase cross-linked proxins with coagulin but did not catalyze DCA incorporated into coagulin. Therefore, glutamine residues functioning as amine acceptors are not present on coagulin, but several lysine residues on coagulin function as amine donors for protein cross-linking with proxins.
