History of several allergic manifestations, who developed an acute tonsillitis, followed by myocardial involvement, and died within a year with signs of progressive chronic heart failure. During the course of his illness, pronounced eosinophilia 30 to 50 per cent ; was observed, though during the last few days before death the figures dropped to normal. At postmortem a parietal fibrotic endocarditis was found involving the endocardium of both ventricles and of the right auricle, while the valves were completely intact. The outstanding histologic features were hyaline fibrosis of the endocardium, and interstitial myocarditis with granulomatous foci containing numerous eosinophil cells and showing fibrinoid degeneration. Infiltration with eosinophils was also present in the liver and spleen, in addition to chronic congestion. In the bone marrow eosinophil myelocytes and leukocytes were predominating. The author feels that in view of the pronounced eosinophilia, the case represents an instance of an allergic disease with particular immunologic conditions. The unusual clinical course can be attributed to the unusual localization of the pathologic changes. The case is classified by the author as an instance of generalized collagen disease "related to endocarditis lenta and to eosinophilic rheumatic vasculitis." PICK.

We suggested swapping Norfolk Southern for Paccar on November 10, 2006; we now reverse the trade due largely to valuation. Since that date, PCAR has gained 47.6% to move within 2% of Jonathan Steinmetz's price target as of the July 6 close ; , while NSC has gained 3.6%. The Model Portfolio has gained 16.3% since that date, outpacing the 11.8% gain in the S&P 500 over that period. Adding a 2% position in Norfolk Southern. With the rail stocks now back under Morgan Stanley coverage, we return to one of our favorite secular pricing stories. Bill Greene recently initiated on the railroads with an Attractive view, and Overweight-rated NSC is one of his top picks based largely on its attractive valuation relative to its peers. Bill has argued that the consensus is too bearish on pricing power in railroads, which he sees as secular, not cyclical; that the group has less macro risk than most other transportation stocks; and that there is capacity to re-lever the industry's balance sheets. Bill sees mid-teens annual EPS growth for NSC over the next several years, driven by contract repricing and ongoing efficiencies, rising returns, and strong FCF generation. Bill's price target implies more than 30% upside from the July 6 close, including the stock's 1.6% current dividend yield. Bill's initiation highlighted one of the higher-conviction mediumto longer-term oriented growth calls we've seen from Morgan Stanley Research in several quarters, and we believe that the secular improvement in railroads, after subpar returns for most of the last 90-plus years, is still in its infancy. Bill is confident that pricing well above inflation is sustainable through 2010. In essence, we believe this is the same basic notion that Warren Buffett has embraced of late for Berkshire Hathaway Berkshire has disclosed owning sizable stakes in Norfolk Sothern, Union Pacific, and Burlington Northern Santa Fe in recent months ; . Bill currently forecasts an earnings CAGR of 16% for the 200710 time period. We believe this is attractive in context of rising ROE from 16.7% in 2006 to 19.1% in 2009 ; and long term FCF growth close to 15%, on Bill's estimates. Furthermore, Bill believes the company will use its cash generation to grow its dividend at a significantly faster pace than the market over the next several years.

But what hands has a boar to strike with? What iron weapon does he wield? Yet this is what thou fearest for me. Had the dream said that I should die pierced by a tusk, then thou hadst done well to keep me away; but it said a weapon. Now here we do not combat men, but a wild animal. I pray thee, therefore, let me go with them." "There thou hast me, my son, " said Croesus, "thy interpretation is better than mine. I yield to it, and change my mind, and consent to let thee go." Then the king sent for Adrastus, the Phrygian, and said to him, "Adrastus, when thou wert smitten with the rod of affliction- no reproach, my friend- I purified thee, and have taken thee to live with me in my palace, and have been at every charge. Now, therefore, it behoves thee to requite the good offices which thou hast received at my hands by consenting to go with my son on this and minoxidil.

In earlier papers Bielorai and Bondi 1 ; and Bielorai 2 ; found a correlation be tween the existence of antitryptic factors in raw soybean meal RS ; , the formation of an undigestible nitrogen fraction in the intestinal content, growth retardation, and pancreas hypertrophy, in chicks fed RS. The aim of this work was to investigate the free amino acid FAA ; pattern of the intestinal contents of chicks fed RS and heated soybean meal HS ; , respectively. This pattern may be an indirect indication of whether the essential amino acids are concentrated in the undigestible fraction. The blood was collected and its FAA pat tern was determined to see whether they are influenced by RS in the diet and have any connection with the FAA pattern in the intestine. The experiment was carried out with two levels of meals in the diet, in order to establish whether there is a cumulative influence of the inhibitors.

| A t h for morning report. I was groggy from the Seconal, but I'd taken a Valium anyway to try and take the edge off my nerves. It had made me calmer, but it hadn't helped the fuzziness in my brain. I couldn't seem to shake the delusion that I was working in a decaying zoo, not a hospital. Why doesn't somebody clean the cages? I kept wondering. If it kept up I was going to need something stronger than Valium. Thorazine, maybe. No, I told myself. Not Thorazine. I'm not crazy. Between the withdrawal symptoms and worry over Matheson I was a wreck by the end of morning report. "Blake." It was my name. The sound of it had startled me so badly my leg had jumped into the table. If it hadn't been for the Valium, I would probably have gone completely to pieces. "Yes?" I said. "Stay here a minute, " the chief resident told me. "I want to talk to you." Christ, I thought. He knows. They all must know. "You look terrible, doctor, " he said. "What's wrong with you?" He had a face like a kindly old g p , but it seemed to me like he was smiling with some

DARDS.-C. J. Smith and J. J. Pindborg, Royal Postgraduate Medical School, London and Royal Dental College, Copenhagen, Denmark. The premalignant nature of some oral lesions, particularly leukoplakia, is beyond reasonable doubt. However, the study of histologic sections from these conditions is frequently difficult, especially with regard to assessment of the features epithelial atypia, ie, dysplasia ; that may indicate a malignant potential. Consequently, this procedure tends to be performed either completely subjectively, or by the recognition of two or more features from a list of those believed to be most frequently associated.

Ously. The AF-induced enhancement of arachidonate release occurred at all concentrations of PMA tested Fig. 2 ; , leading to an approximately 100-fold increase in the sensitivity to PMA and a detectable response even at pmoiar concentrations. Macrophages were then pretreated with either AF, ATM, aurothioglucose, or peniciliamine for various periods of time, before they were challenged with PMA for 30 mm in the continued presence of the drug. Preincubation of macrophages with AF 0.1-2 M ; for either 40 mm or resulted in a twoto threefold increase in the arachidonate release triggered by PMA. Thus, the effect of AF was not altered by pretreatment. However, preincubation with ATM 0.01-20.

Malnutrition and noninfectious disease also affect school-age children. Malnutrition Stunting low height for age ; is a physical indicator of chronic or long-term malnutrition, whereas underweight low weight for age ; is an indicator of both chronic and acute malnutrition. Both are common in school-age children figure 58.3 ; . Girls who are better nourished are more attentive and more involved during class, and boys have improved classroom behavior and increased activity levels. One Z-score increase in height for age is associated with an increase of 0.1 standard deviation SD ; in tests of arithmetic and language. Stunted children enroll in school later than other children. School foodservice programs have been successful in improving school attendance and miglitol.

Appearance, it is a commonly used landscape plant. Junipers, as a group, withstand hot, poor, dry soils of city areas probably better than any other evergreens. However, they do suffer from certain pest problems and should therefore be watched closely once they are planted. DROOPING LEUCOTHOE Leucothoe fontanesiana ; Height: 3-4'; Spread: 4-6'. Drooping Leucothoe is a moundlike shrub which is good for planting in front of and between other flora and beneath trees. It is hardy in city conditions and gives a natural effect when planted along borders. This native evergreen is graceful and attractive in all seasons. It is easy to transplant but requires a heavy mulch and should be provided with at least partial shade. Old branches should be pruned occasionally to stimulate new growth. WINTER HONEYSUCKLE Lonicera fragrantissima ; Height: 6-8'; Spread: 6-8'. The only resemblance between this shrub and the more familiar Honeysuckle vine is its extremely fragrant flowers. The Winer Honeysuckle has a leathery semievergreen leaves and assumes a globe shape as it rapidly grows. It is a tough plant, soil tolerant and virtually maintenance free. STAR MAGNOLIA Magnolia stellata ; Height: 10-12'; Spread: 8-10'. This handsome specimen shrub is considered to be the hardiest of all the Magnolias. It forms a broad, rounded mass. It becomes tree-like with age but continues to branch to the ground. Early in the Spring, it produces numerous fragrant white flowers. The Star Magnolia should not be planted adjacent to shallow rooting trees. It should be allowed plenty of sun and modafinil!

Rearrangement; and III ; the presence of a t 14; 18 ; BCL2 rearrangement without 3q27 BCL6 rearrangements Table ; . Frequencies of various other structural and numerical cytogenetic aberrations, like a deletion of the long arm of chromosome 6, deletions of chromosome 17p q, 8q24 rearrangements and gain of chromosome 7 were compared within the 3 groups1 and revealed a significant difference only for chromosome 7 gain. Gain of chromosome 7 was observed more frequently in the t 14; 18 ; positive subgroup 8 11 73% ; in comparison to the two t 14; 18 ; negative subgroups 25% and 36% ; Table 1 ; . The differences between the three separate subgroups did not reach significance, due to the low number of cases in each subgroup. But comparison of the t 14; 18 ; positive subgroup with the two t 14; 18 ; negative subgroups did yield a significant difference p 0.029, Pearson Chi-Square ; . Although gain of chromosome 7 was observed less frequently in the 3q27 positive group 2 8 25% ; in comparison with the 3q27 negative group 12 22 54% ; this did not reach significance 0.196, Pearson Chi-Square ; . Immunohistochemistry Bcl-2 staining was present in the majority of cases, with the lowest proportion of strong-positive + ; or positive + ; cases in the group with a BCL6 rearrangement. Bcl-6 staining was found in all cases, consistent with a follicular center cell origin. CD10 protein expression was seen in about 30% of the FL3B cases. It was observed at a higher frequency in t 14; 18 ; positive subgroup 6 9 67% ; than in the two t 14; 18 ; negative subgroups 28% and 27% ; . Again the differences between the three subgroups did not reach significance due to the small number of cases. Comparison of CD10 protein expression in the t 14; 18 ; positive subgroup with the two t 14; 18 ; negative subgroups revealed a much higher frequency in the t 14; 18 ; positive subgroup p 0.053, Pearson Chi-Square analysis ; . Almost half of the cases showed a positive or weak positive P53 protein expression with no clear relation between the cases with or without a t 14; 18 ; or 3q27 aberrations. There was no obvious relation between the CD10 and P53 expression. Table and milrinone.
Researchers will especially want to focus attention on the effect of vitamin deficiency in relation to cancer. In addition to the oxidation-enzymes, the vitamins would appear to have significant part in the origin of cancer. As mentioned earlier, vitamins A, C, and E are very important oxidation vitamins. Vitamin B1, thiamine ; is also involved in producing this antioxidant effect in the body, so it is needed in order to make the other three more effective. ; Cancer cells lack vitamins C, B, and A. Cancerous and even precancerous organisms have a remarkable deficiency in them. Through a continued deficiency of vitamin A, an idleness in vitamin C supply occurs. The body cannot absorb enough, and C is not replaced as rapidly as it ought to be. Hence, with an A deficiency, there will always be a C deficiency. Yet the presence of vitamin C is of utmost importance in the entire oxidation process that takes place in the cells. In addition, vitamin A is also important--because it brings about the decomposition of certain fatty acids. It has been suggested that, through a deficiency in vitamin A, the increase of these fatty acids in cancer cells can be explained. It has been said that vitamins C, E, and riboflavin B 2 ; are the vitamins most deficient in the average American diet. It would be well if research was done on vitamins A, C, and E at the same time! Surely, this would uncover valuable facts. Arthur Sakamoto, M.D., and several colleagues, in their private practices, found that vitamin supplementation in 23 patients treated for cancer yielded favorable responses in 75 percent of the cases. They reported that supplemental vitamins C and E inhibited tumor spreading at the First International Conference on the Modulation and Mediation of Cancer by Vitamins, held in February 1982 and molindone.
